The Gold Coast has so many great places to get the catch of the day. Some good areas to try your luck are, Paradise Point, Currumbin Creek, Coomera River, and the Tweed River.
Paradise Point
Paradise Point Beach is located on the Northern most part of the Broadwater at the start of the Coomera River. The beach has several public fishing platforms that are ideal to use at high tide and a nice sandy bottom free from snags with patchy weed beds. There’s flathead, bream, mangrove jack, all the usual suspects and plenty of scenery to scope out should they not be biting.

Currumbin Creek
There are two fishing platforms located along a boardwalk that winds its way across mangrove flats near Palm Beach-Currumbin High. The boardwalk connects the Thrower Drive boat ramp car park to the Gold Coast Highway underpass on the northern banks of Currumbin Creek. Each fishing platform has a shade cover and seat. They are located about one kilometre upstream of the tidal entrance of Currumbin Creek.

Coomera River
Coomera River is one of the best Mangrove Jack fishing rivers in the South East Corner. Use live bait of mullet or herring near shaded structures such as bridges, pylons or rock bars should work well to catch the Mangrove Jacks in the Coomera River. Lure fishing for Jack is very popular in the Coomera. Great fish are caught every summer, the key to success for luring jacks is, hard body minnow lures worked very close to structure in the shaded areas.
Flathead are caught year-round, but they are in high numbers during Spring. They can be found around the drop-offs and at the mouths of small feeder creeks on the run-out tide.

Tweed River
Tweed River will require you to get a fishing licence, but it’s worth the small charge. Tweed River’s rocks and banks are abundant with bream, flathead, and jewfish. You can also find bass in the upper reaches, mangrove jack to the south, trevally at the mouth, and dart, tailor and whiting in the offshore reefs.
